Following Swarovski's invitation, I elaborated fragments as an abstract re-interpretation of Wenzel Hablik's (1881-1934) historical "Salon of Itzehoe":
The major inspiration was Hablik's far-reaching approach to angular forms - the dialectic between the irregular forms of inorganic nature and geometrical order springing from human effort. Although the fragmentary disarray concentrates towards the centre, the group of furniture at first appears arbitrary and not constructed: a rock/crystal breaks up into several smaller rocks, which only at closer observation reveal their function and ergonomic disposition as furniture.
What may appear turbulent in detail produces an impression of balance as a whole. The simulated chaos obeys a mathematical order: the sizes of the polygones move within a strictly predefined range.
